Regular Season Round 12: Chernomorets - Akademik PL 83-78

Bottom-ranked Chernomorets managed to get a second victory, breaking the eight-game losing streak. This time they won against eighth-ranked Academik Plovdiv in Burgas 83-78. It looked good early as Academik Plovdiv took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Chernomorets had a 26-13 second period charge getting the lead and Academik Plovdiv was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 78-83. Academik Plovdiv was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by Serbian center Dejan Bjelic (209-90) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds and forward Konstantin Koev (196-91) supported him with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Even 15 points and 7 rebounds by Serbian forward Aleksandar Mitrovic (201-90, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Academik Plovdiv. Guard Vasil Kyosev (196-90) added 19 points and 4 steals. Five Chernomorets and four Academik Plovdiv players scored in double figures. Academik Plovdiv's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Chernomorets (2-10) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Yambol and Akademik PL. Academik Plovdiv lost fourth consecutive game. Chernomorets will play against higher ranked Beroe (#3) in Stara Zagora in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Academik Plovdiv will play at home against Cherno More (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
