Very expected game when 9th ranked Yakin Dogu (4-7) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Mersin (8-3) 74-66 on Sunday. Mersin made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The game was dominated by American players. It was a great evening for Angel McCoughtry (187-86, college: Louisville) who led her team to a victory scoring 22 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Center Aneika Henry (193-86, college: Florida) helped adding 18 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Tiffany Hayes (177-89, college: Connecticut) responded with 29 points and 6 rebounds and forward Alyssa Thomas (188-92, college: Maryland) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 16 rebounds. Mersin have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Fenerbahce and Galatasaray. Yakin Dogu lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the ninth position with seven games lost. They share it with Botas and Edirne. Mersin's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Mersin to the arena Adana ASKI.
