Regular Season Round 13: Galatasaray - Besiktas 90-76

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Istanbul: Galatasaray (#5) and Besiktas (#8). Galatasaray (9-4) won against visiting Besiktas (6-7) 90-76. The game was mostly controlled by Galatasaray. Besiktas managed to win third quarter 23-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Galatasaray had a 31-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. Americans were the main players on the court. Power forward Joey Dorsey (206-83, college: Memphis) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and point guard Errick McCollum (185-88, college: Goshen) chipped in 16 points and 5 assists. Five Galatasaray players scored in double figures. At the losing side point guard Nate Wolters (193-91, college: S.Dakota St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 5 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals and power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) scored 17 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Galatasaray moved-up to second place, which they share with Darussafaka and Fener.Ulker. Besiktas at the other side dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. They share it with TED Kolejliler. Galatasaray is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Turk Telekom (#16) in Ankara in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Besiktas will play at home against Banvit BK (#5) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
