Zaporizhya (#7) forced the game against Cherkasy (#4) into an overtime, but lost by four points 92-96 on Tuesday night. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 15-14 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 4-point victory in overtime. Cherkasy made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a good game for the former international Klym Artamonov (186-93) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists. Naturalized Moldovan center Stanislav Zavadsky (213-87) contributed with 27 points and 8 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners. Four Cherkasy players scored in double figures. Guard Stanislav Ovdeyenko (191-84) replied with 20 points and 8 rebounds and guard Alexey Chigrinov (189-89, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) added 18 points and 4 assists in the effort for Zaporizhya. Cherkasy maintains fourth position with 9-7 record. Zaporizhya at the other side keeps the seventh place with 11 games lost. Cherkasy will face league's second-placed SC Kryvbas in Kryvyi Rih in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Zaporizhya will play on the road against Mykolaiv (#6) in Mykolaiv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
