Regular Season Round 19: Lietkabelis - P.Zvaigzdes 91-78

Rather expected game in Panevezys where 9th ranked P.Zvaigzdes (5-11) was defeated by seventh ranked Lietkabelis (7-10) 91-78. The game was mostly controlled by Lietkabelis. P.Zvaigzdes was better in second period 23-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Lietkabelis players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Valdas Vasylius (203-83, college: ODU) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 8 assists. Simas Buterlevicius (200-88, agency: Octagon Europe) accounted for 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winning side. Lietkabelis' coach Kazys Maksvytis allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American point guard Derrick Low (191-86, college: Washington St.) came up with 19 points and 4 assists and the other American import guard Ramone Moore (193-89, college: Temple, agency: Two Points) added 18 points respectively for P.Zvaigzdes in the defeat. Four Lietkabelis and five P.Zvaigzdes players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Lietkabelis. They maintain seventh place with 7-10 record. P.Zvaigzdes lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 11 games lost. Lietkabelis will play against league's leader Zalgiris in Kaunas in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. P.Zvaigzdes will play on the road against Siauliai (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
