There was no surprise in Stara Zagora where 9th ranked Chernomorets (2-11) was defeated by third ranked Beroe (8-5) 85-68. The game was mostly controlled by Beroe. Chernomorets was better in second period 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Beroe dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Chernomorets' 26. Beroe forced 26 Chernomorets turnovers. The former international Tihomir Zhelev (193-90) nailed 20 points and 4 assists for the winning side and American point guard Ashton Moore (183-93, college: Citadel) accounted for 8 points and 8 rebounds. Serbian center Dejan Bjelic (209-90) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 17 rebounds and American point guard Hunter Williams (183-92, college: Troy) added 15 points and 6 assists respectively for Chernomorets in the defeat. Four Chernomorets players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Beroe maintains third place with 8-5 record having four points less than leader Lukoil Acad., which they share with Cherno More and Rilski. Chernomorets at the other side dropped to the eighth position with 11 games lost. Beroe's next round opponent will be Cherno More (#5) in Varna. Chernomorets will play at home against the league's second-placed Balkan and hope to win that game.
