Regular Season Round 13: Mersin - Hatay 72-77

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Mersin (9-4) against fifth ranked Hatay (9-4) on Sunday night. Host Mersin was defeated by Hatay in a tough game in Mersin 72-77. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Mersin. They outrebounded Mersin 38-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. Australian point guard Natalie Hurst (164-83) nailed 23 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side and Kazakhstan-Belarusian forward Katerina Snytsina (188-85) accounted for 17 points and 7 rebounds. Four Hatay players scored in double figures. American Angel McCoughtry (187-86, college: Louisville) came up with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals and the other American import center Aneika Henry (193-86, college: Florida) added 13 points and 4 assists respectively for Mersin in the defeat. Hatay moved-up to third place, which they share with Fenerbahce and Mersin. Hatay will play against Botas (#8) in Adana in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Mersin will play at home against the league's leader Abdullah Gul (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
