Regular Season Round 13: Herner - Chemnitz 68-64
Date: January 9, 2016
Very predictable result when fourth ranked Herner TC (9-4) defeated at home 9th ranked ChemCats Chemnitz (3-10) 68-64. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But ChemCats Chemnitz won third quarter 18-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a very good performance for the former international point guard Lea Mersch (170-87) who helped to win the game recording 11 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international power forward Sonja Greinacher (188-92, college: Gonzaga) contributed with 18 points for the winners. Herner TC's coach Marek Piotrowski allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American forward Madi Buck (183, college: N.Dakota) answered with 17 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import guard Sara Halasz (180-90, college: N.Mexico) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for ChemCats Chemnitz. Four ChemCats Chemnitz players scored in double figures. Herner TC maintains fourth place with 9-4 record, which they share with Marburg. ChemCats Chemnitz at the other side dropped to the tenth position with ten games lost. Herner TC's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Osnabruck (#12) on the road and are hoping to win another game. ChemCats Chemnitz will play against the league's leader TSV 1880 Wasserburg and hope to win that game.
