Regular Season Round 14: Cherno More - Beroe 80-88

Round 14 most important game was a victory of Beroe over 5th ranked Cherno More 88-80 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cherno More. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 88-80. Beroe forced 20 Cherno More turnovers. American guard Evrik Gary (191-91, college: Francis Marion) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. The former international Tihomir Zhelev (193-90) contributed with 18 points and 5 assists for the winners. Gary is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Swingman Nikolay Stoyanov (195-94) replied with 23 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and Serbian center Nikola Maravic (212-89, agency: Beo Basket) added 18 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Cherno More. Five Beroe and four Cherno More players scored in double figures. Cherno More's coach Spas Natov rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Beroe maintains third position with 9-5 record having four points less than leader Lukoil Acad., which they share with Rilski. Cherno More at the other side keeps the fifth place with six games lost. They share the position with Spartak Pleven. Beroe is looking forward to face Spartak Pleven (#5) at home in the next round. Cherno More will play against the league's second-placed Balkan in Botevgrad and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
