Regular Season Round 10: Grosuplje - Branik 78-88

There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Branik (6-4) defeated on the road 4th ranked Grosuplje (6-5) 88-78. Grosuplje was ahead by 2 points after three quarters before a 31-19 charge of Branik, which allowed them to win the game. They made 22-of-27 charity shots (81.5 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Grosuplje helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Guard Jan Tratnik (190-89) notched 18 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and swingman Marko Cej (192-88) supported him with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals. Branik's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 21 points (made all of his eight free throws) by point guard Zan Jerman (186-92) did not help to save the game for Grosuplje. Forward Matic Sirnik (198-91) added 14 points and 10 rebounds for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Branik moved-up to third place, which they share with Konjice and Plama Pur. Grosuplje at the other side dropped to the sixth position with five games lost. Branik's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Triglav in Kranj and it will be for sure the game of the week. Grosuplje will play on the road against Parklji (#10) in Bezigrad and hope to win that game and get promotion back to the Telemach League just one year after relegation.
