Regular Season Round 16: Balikesir - Socar Petkim 79-73

Very expected game when 15th ranked Socar Petkim (5-11) lost on the road to sixth ranked Balikesir (9-7) 79-73 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-13. But Socar Petkim won second period 24-23. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Balikesir made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The winners were led by American forward Mike Davis (205-88, college: Illinois) who scored that evening 25 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Ogun Sevinc (198-88) supported him with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 15 points and 6 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) by American point guard Josh Selby (188-91, college: Kansas, agency: Ali Guney BA) did not help to save the game for Socar Petkim. Guard Sercan Topcu (188-85) added 15 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Four Socar Petkim players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Balikesir maintains sixth position with 9-7 record. Socar Petkim lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth place with 11 games lost. Balikesir will meet league's second-placed Acibadem in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Socar Petkim will play against Final Genclik (#11) and hope to secure a win.
