Regular Season Round 23: Aistes-LSU - H-Sirenos 45-82

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Kaunas: Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas (#4) and Aistes-LSU (#6). Aistes-LSU was crushed at home by 37 points 45-82 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The game without a history. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Aistes-LSU to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Aistes-LSU's 28. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas forced 37 Aistes-LSU turnovers and outrebounded them 42-25 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Monika Petrauskaite (182-92) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Akvile Baronenaite (185-93) helped adding 14 points and 6 rebounds. Five Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas players scored in double figures. Forward Jolanta Marmiene (181-79) responded with 15 points and Helma Vysniauskaite (182-98) scored 14 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas maintains fourth place with 8-6 record. Aistes-LSU lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 12 games lost. Hoptrans-Sirenos Kaunas will play against higher ranked Kibirkstis-VICI (#3) in Vilnius in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Aistes-LSU will play on the road against Siauliai-Univ. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
