Regular Season Round 24: Vytis - Zalgiris II 99-89

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Vytis (17-7) beat 6th ranked Zalgiris II (14-12) in Sakiai 99-89 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Vytis. Zalgiris II managed to win second period 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vytis looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The winners were led by forward Karolis Brusokas (200-91) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds and guard Dominykas Domarkas (187-92) supported him with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists. Five Vytis players scored in double figures. Even 26 points by swingman Martynas Varnas (196-97) did not help to save the game for Zalgiris II. Paulius Valinskas (190-95) added 19 points. Vytis have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 17-7 record having just three points less than leader Mazeikiai. Loser Zalgiris II keeps the sixth place with 12 games lost. Vytis will meet Rasai (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zalgiris II will play against Petrochema (#7) in Jonava and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
