Regular Season Round 17: Trier - Bayer Giants 72-66
Date: January 10, 2016
There was no surprise in Trier where 15th ranked Bayer Giants (3-14) were defeated by tenth ranked Gladiators (9-9) 72-66. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. American forward Dwayne Evans (198-92, college: St.Louis) nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and Ghanian-American guard Kwadzo Ahelegbe (188-88, college: N.Iowa) accounted for 13 points and 6 rebounds. Four Gladiators players scored in double figures. Gladiators' coach Marco van den Berg allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward James Hulbin (203-90, college: Northwestern St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Rod Camphor (191-92, college: SW Oklahoma St.) added 17 points respectively for Bayer Giants in the defeat. Gladiators maintains tenth place with 9-9 record. Bayer Giants lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the fifteenth position with 14 games lost. Gladiators' next round opponent will be higher ranked BV Chemnitz 99 (#8) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bayer Giants will play against White Wings (#13) in Hanau and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
