Top ranked Abdullah Gul (11-3) recorded its third loss on the court of fifth ranked Mersin on Sunday night. Visitors were rolled over by Mersin 77-58. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Abdullah Gul. Mersin forced 21 Abdullah Gul turnovers. The best player for the winners was American Angel McCoughtry (187-86, college: Louisville) who scored 24 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!). The other American import center Aneika Henry (193-86, college: Florida) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds. Four Mersin players scored in double figures. Mersin's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International LaToya Sanders (191-86, college: N.Carolina) produced 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and Greek forward Zoi Dimitrakou (188-87, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Mersin (10-4) moved-up to third place, which they share with Fenerbahce and Hatay. Abdullah Gul at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. They share it with Galatasaray. Mersin is looking forward to face Fenerbahce (#3) in Istanbul in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Abdullah Gul will play at home against Botas and is hoping to win this game.
