Regular Season Round 17: Naestved - Randers 88-98

The game between second ranked Naestved (12-5) and fifth ranked Randers (7-11) was the most important one in the last round on Thursday night. Naestved was defeated by Randers in Naestved 88-98. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Naestved. The game was mostly controlled by Randers. Naestved managed to win second period 27-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Naestved outrebounded Randers 42-23 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. American-Belizean point guard Charles Burgess (186-84, college: Texas Tech) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. The former international swingman Chris Nielsen (192-85) contributed with 32 points and 4 steals for the winners. American guard Caleb Walker (193-89, college: Nebraska) answered with 28 points and 6 rebounds and South African center Christopher Gabriel (210-88, college: San Diego) added 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Naestved. Naestved's coach Bogdan Karaicic rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Randers maintains fifth place with 7-11 record. Naestved at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. Randers are looking forward to face Stevnsgade (#7) at home in the next round. Naestved will play against Horsholm (#6) and is hoping to win this game.
