Regular Season Round 17: Mamak DSI - Gediz 75-87

Everything went according to plan in Ankara where fourth ranked Gediz (13-4) beat 10th ranked Mamak DSI (6-11) 87-75. The game was mostly controlled by Gediz. Mamak DSI was better in fourth quarter 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gediz players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. American point guard Demontez Stitt (187-89, college: Clemson, agency: HMS) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 9 assists. Power forward Orbay Kaya (205-82) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Four Gediz players scored in double figures. American power forward Raymond Sykes (206-86, college: Clemson, agency: Three Eye Sports) answered with 20 points and 7 rebounds and guard Pertev Onguner (196-91) added 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Mamak DSI. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Gediz. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Acibadem. Mamak DSI at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with 11 games lost. Gediz's next round opponent will be Gelisim (#7) in Izmir which should be theoretically an easy game. Mamak DSI will play at home against Sakarya BSB (#5) and hope to win that game.
