There was no surprise when 11th ranked Oberhausen (3-11) was defeated at home by sixth ranked SV Halle Lions (7-7) 75-66. Oberhausen was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. American swingman Kristen McCarthy (182-90, college: Temple) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points and 14 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import forward Kaneisha Horn (185-92, college: USC, agency: Two Points) supported her with 11 points and 13 rebounds. SV Halle Lions' coach Rene Spandauw allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 13 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists by American guard Chassidy Fussell (178-92, college: Texas) did not help to save the game for Oberhausen. Latvian guard Ance Aizsila (178-94) added 17 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. SV Halle Lions maintains sixth position with 7-7 record, which they share with BG 89 Avides. Oberhausen at the other side dropped to the tenth place with 11 games lost. SV Halle Lions' next round opponent will be league's second-placed TV Saarlouis Royals at home and it may be quite challenging game. Oberhausen will play against BC Pharmaserv Marburg (#5) and hope to win that game.
