Regular Season Round 17: Tofas - Denizli 89-85

The game between Top Four teams took place in Bursa. Leader host Tofas (17-0) defeated 4th placed Denizli (12-5) 89-85. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Denizli. The hosts were ahead by 6 points but lost the second period ending it with a 6-point deficit before their 27-17 run, which allowed them to win the game. Tofas forced 23 Denizli turnovers. They shot the lights out from three nailing 16 long-distance shots on high 51.6 percentage. The former international point guard Baris Ermis (194-85) nailed 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and Dominican-American guard Sammy Mejia (198-83, college: De Paul) accounted for 21 points, 6 assists and 4 steals. American center Hilton Armstrong (210-84, college: Connecticut) came up with 15 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Burak Erol (197-88) added 11 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Denizli in the defeat. Four Denizli players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Tofas have an impressive series of seventeen victories in a row. They maintain first place with 17-0 record. Denizli at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with Sakarya BSB. Tofas will play against bottom-ranked Istanbul DSI (#18) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Denizli will play against Afyon (#11) in Afyonkarahisar and hopes to get back on the winning track.
