Regular Season Round 17: Akhisar Bld - Pertevniyal 73-68

There was a minor upset when 9th ranked Pertevniyal (8-9) was defeated on the road by eleventh ranked Akhisar Bld (7-10) 73-68. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Pertevniyal won third quarter 23-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard K.T. Harrell (193-92, college: Auburn) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import forward D.J. Shelton (208-91, college: Washington St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Akhisar Bld players scored in double figures. Akhisar Bld's coach Zafer Aktas allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Berk Demir (203-95) answered with 20 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and swingman Okben Ulubay (200-97) added 14 points and 4 assists in the effort for Pertevniyal. Akhisar Bld moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Afyon. Pertevniyal at the other side dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. Akhisar Bld's next round opponent will be Meliksah (#12) in Kayseri.
