Regular Season Round 14: Lousada - Sporting 56-61

There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Lousada (6-8) lost at home to ninth ranked Sporting (5-9) 61-56 on Saturday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 20-10. But Lousada won third quarter 21-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Senegalese center Bineta Ndoye (196-93, agency: Josep and Nicolas) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 19 rebounds. Spanish Arantxa Mallou (181-91) contributed with 9 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Joana Cruz (176-92) replied with 14 points and 7 rebounds and Catarina Miranda added 13 points in the effort for Lousada. Newly promoted Sporting maintains ninth position with 5-9 record. Lousada lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with eight games lost. Sporting will face higher ranked Lombos Quinta (#5) in Carcavelos in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
