Regular Season Round 22: Neptunas - Lietkabelis 70-74

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Neptunas (10-10) against seventh ranked Lietkabelis (9-11) on Saturday night. Host Neptunas was defeated by Lietkabelis in a tough game in Klaipeda 70-74. Neptunas was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 19-13 third quarter run of Lietkabelis. They made 17-of-20 charity shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Neptunas was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Simas Buterlevicius (200-88, agency: Octagon Europe) notched 21 points and 4 assists to lead the effort and forward Arnas Labuckas (205-87, agency: Octagon Europe) supported him with 11 points and 9 rebounds. Even 14 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) by American power forward Jerai Grant (203-89, college: Clemson) did not help to save the game for Neptunas. Forward Donatas Zavackas (203-80, college: Pittsburgh) added 10 points for lost side. Neptunas' coach Dainius Adomaitis rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Lietkabelis moved-up to sixth place. Neptunas at the other side keeps the third position with ten games lost. They share it with Vytautas and Juventus. Lietkabelis will play against higher ranked Juventus (#5) in Utena in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Neptunas will play at home against Siauliai and hopes to get back on the winning track.
