Rather expected game when 6th ranked Canik Bld (8-7) lost on the road to fourth ranked Hatay (11-4) 82-78 on Saturday. It was an exceptional evening for Australian point guard Natalie Hurst (164-83) who led the winners and scored 34 points (!!!) and 5 assists. Hungarian power forward Anna Vajda (191-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) accounted for 16 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side. Montenegrin power forward Iva Perovanovic (188-83) came up with 23 points and 9 rebounds (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and American point guard Natasha Lacy (178-85, college: UTEP) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Canik Bld in the defeat. Four Canik Bld players scored in double figures. Hatay have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Fenerbahce and Abdullah Gul. Loser Canik Bld keeps the sixth position with seven games lost. They share it with Istanbul Univ.. Hatay will meet Gelistirenler (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Canik Bld will play against Abdullah Gul and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
