Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Yakin Dogu (4-11) lost to second ranked Galatasaray (12-3) in Lefkosa 70-84 on Saturday. Galatasaray looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Jewell Loyd (178-93, college: Notre Dame) who led the winners and scored 24 points and 5 rebounds. International center Nevriye Yilmaz (194-80) accounted for 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Five Galatasaray players scored in double figures. American forward Alyssa Thomas (188-92, college: Maryland) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and the other American import guard Tiffany Hayes (177-89, college: Connecticut) added 15 points and 6 assists respectively for Yakin Dogu in the defeat. Galatasaray have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader. Yakin Dogu lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the eleventh place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Edirne and Orduspor. Galatasaray will meet at home bottom-ranked Adana ASKI (#14) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Yakin Dogu will play against Besiktas in Istanbul and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
