Fifth-ranked Palanga (15-11) made lots of trouble for second ranked Mazeikiai (21-5) on Saturday. Mazeikiai managed to secure only two-point victory 74-72. However their fans expected easier game. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 18-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was swingman Vytautas Pikalavicius (197-90) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points and 16 rebounds. Guard Sarunas Vingelis (192-89) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Mazeikiai's coach Aloyzas Rudys used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Center Matas Jucikas (205-94) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 20 rebounds and American forward RJ Sims (196, college: E.Mennonite) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Five Mazeikiai and four Palanga players scored in double figures. Mazeikiai maintains second position with 21-5 record behind leader Suduva-Mantinga. Palanga at the other side keeps the fifth place with 11 games lost.
