Regular Season Round 15: Beroe - Spartak Pleven 84-63

Rather expected game in Stara Zagora where 5th ranked Spartak Pleven (8-7) was crushed by third ranked Beroe (10-5) 84-63. The game without a history. Beroe led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They also forced 19 Spartak Pleven turnovers. It was a good game for American forward Auston Barnes (203-91, college: Bradley) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Ashton Moore (183-93, college: Citadel) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Four Beroe players scored in double figures. Beroe's coach Lubomir Minchev felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The former international guard Aleksandar Gruev (187-83, agency: Global Sports Plaza) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists and power forward Dimitar Marincheshki (200-90) added 14 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Spartak Pleven. The victory was the third consecutive win for Beroe. They maintain third place with 10-5 record having four points less than leader Lukoil Acad. Spartak Pleven at the other side keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. Beroe's next round opponent will be Levski 2014 (#7) in Sofia. Spartak Pleven will play at home against the league's second-placed Balkan and hope to win that game.
