Regular Season Round 15: Adana ASKI - Gelistirenler 70-87

Date: January 16, 2016
Very predictable result when ninth ranked Gelistirenler (7-8) won against bottom-ranked Adana ASKI (2-13) in Mersin 87-70 on Saturday. Gelistirenler dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Adana ASKI's 42. Gelistirenler had a 29-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was an exceptional evening for American guard Courtney Vandersloot (173-89, college: Gonzaga) who led the winners and scored 23 points and 4 assists. Her fellow American import point guard Alexandria Bentley (170-90, college: Tarbes, agency: Josep and Nicolas) accounted for 16 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Four Gelistirenler players scored in double figures. Gelistirenler's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swedish center Amanda Zahui (196-93, college: Minnesota) came up with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds and Croatian-American guard Shavonte Zellous (178-86, college: Pittsburgh) added 19 points respectively for Adana ASKI in the defeat. Gelistirenler have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Botas. Adana ASKI lost ninth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 13 games lost. Gelistirenler will meet at home league's second-placed Hatay in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Adana ASKI will play against the league's leader Galatasaray (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
