Date: January 17, 2016
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Oradea as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Oradea edged 8th ranked CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu at home 65-62. CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 14-10 charge of Oradea, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu to just 7 points in first quarter. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Sean Barnette (197-86, college: Wingate) who helped to win the game recording 8 points and 14 rebounds and Serbian Radovan Markovic (193-82, agency: 011 Sports) who added 20 points during the contest. At the losing side American center Callistus Eziukwu (208-85, college: Grand Valley St.) responded with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 blocks and his fellow American import guard Porter Troupe (196-83, college: Portland, agency: Interperformances) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Targu Mures. CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu at the other side keeps the eighth place with nine games lost. CS Energia Rovinari Targu Jiu will play next round against strong CSU Sibiu trying to get back on the winning streak. Oradea will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Pitesti on the road.
