Regular Season Round 21: Oberwart - Gussing 80-84

An interesting game for Gussing Knights (18-3) which played road game in Oberwart against 3rd placed Redwell Gunners Oberwart (11-10). First ranked Gussing Knights managed to get a 4-point victory 84-80. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Redwell Gunners Oberwart. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 84-80. American swingman Bradford Burgess (198-90, college: VCU, agency: Interperformances) nailed 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winning side and American-Ivorian forward Dane Watts (203-86) accounted for 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). Four Gussing Knights players scored in double figures. Gussing Knights' coach Matthias Zollner used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Quincy Diggs (198-90, college: Akron, agency: Mansfield and Associates) came up with 25 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import point guard Derek Jackson (185-91, college: Kent St., agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) added 14 points respectively for Redwell Gunners Oberwart in the defeat. Gussing Knights have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 18-3 record. Loser Redwell Gunners Oberwart keeps the third position with ten games lost. They share it with Vienna. Gussing Knights will meet at home Vienna (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Redwell Gunners Oberwart will play against Gmunden Swans and hope to secure a win.
