Regular Season Round 15: Fenerbahce - Mersin 71-67

Everything could happen in Istanbul at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Fenerbahce and 5th ranked Mersin had identical 10-4 record. This time Fenerbahce used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Mersin 71-67 on Sunday night. Fenerbahce dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Mersin's 32. Fenerbahce forced 19 Mersin turnovers. It was an exceptional evening for Hungarian-American guard Allie Quigley (178-86, college: De Paul) who led the winners and scored 15 points and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Belarusian center Anastasiya Veremeenko (194-87) accounted for 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Five Fenerbahce players scored in double figures. American Angel McCoughtry (187-86, college: Louisville) came up with 24 points and 4 steals and the other American import guard Bria Hartley (173-92, college: Connecticut) added 17 points and 6 assists respectively for Mersin in the defeat. Fenerbahce have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Abdullah Gul and Hatay. Loser Mersin keeps the fifth position with five games lost. Fenerbahce will meet Botas (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Mersin will play against Edirne and hope to secure a win.
