Regular Season Round 25: Aistes-LSU - Utena 51-82

The game in Kaunas supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Utena (12-2) played at the court of 6th ranked Aistes-LSU (2-14). Utena smashed Aistes-LSU 82-51 on Friday. The game without a history. Utena led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Aistes-LSU to just 6 points in second quarter. Utena forced 24 Aistes-LSU turnovers and outrebounded them 43-32 including 29 on the defensive glass. The former international power forward Gintare Mazionyte (188-91, college: Texas) stepped up and scored 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and the former international point guard Rima Valentiene (170-78) chipped in 15 points. Four Utena players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Jolanta Marmiene (181-79) responded with 11 points and 7 rebounds and Helma Vysniauskaite (182-98) scored 6 points and 6 rebounds. Aistes-LSU's coach Ricardas Maceina already knew that her team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Defending champion maintains second place with 12-2 record behind leader Suduva. Aistes-LSU lost eleventh consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 14 games lost. Utena will meet at home Kibirkstis-VICI (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Aistes-LSU will have a break next round.
