Very expected game in Balikesir where 10th ranked Mersin Gelisim (3-10) was defeated by second ranked Edremit (10-3) 60-54 on Saturday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. American power forward Brookilyn Pope (185-89, college: Baylor, agency: Gamble Sports Management) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners and guard Ilknur Dumlu (176-89) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side Ilknur Yildizhan (186-96) responded with 12 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Cisem Incel (172-94) scored 11 points and 4 assists. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Edremit. They maintain second place in Group A with 10-3 record having just one point less than leader Ormanspor. Newly promoted Mersin Gelisim keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. Edremit will face Fenerbahce (#9) in Istanbul in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mersin Gelisim will play at home against Anadolu Univ. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
