Regular Season Round 16: BG 89 Avides - Herner 67-64

The most exciting game of round 16 in the DBBL took place in Rotenburg. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 4th ranked Herner TC (11-5) to seventh ranked Rotenburg/Scheessel (8-8) 67-64 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Herner TC. Rotenburg/Scheessel forced 24 Herner TC turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Kierra Mallard (188-90, college: Texas Tech) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and the other American import guard Shay Selby (175-90, college: Duke) who added 16 points during the contest. At the losing side the former international power forward Sonja Greinacher (188-92, college: Gonzaga) responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds and the former international point guard Lea Mersch (170-87) scored 11 points and 6 assists. Four Herner TC players scored in double figures. Rotenburg/Scheessel moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Halle. Herner TC at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with Marburg. Rotenburg/Scheessel is looking forward to face league's leader TSV 1880 Wasserburg on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Herner TC will play against Eisvogel Freiburg and is hoping to win this game.
