Regular Season Round 12: Parklji - Branik 99-87

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Branik (7-5) against tenth ranked Parklji (6-6) on Saturday night. Visiting Branik was defeated by Parklji in Bezigrad 99-87. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Branik. The game was mostly controlled by Parklji. Branik was better in second period 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Branik outrebounded Parklji 43-31 including 16 on the offensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Branik's players. Parklji brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Branik was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by swingman Luka Snoj (200-90) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 30 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Andraz Rogelja (188-95) supported him with 17 points and 5 assists. Even 28 points by swingman Marko Cej (192-88) did not help to save the game for Branik. Guard Jan Tratnik (190-89) added 10 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Branik's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Parklji moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Sezana. Newly promoted Branik keeps the third position with five games lost. They share it with Triglav and Plama Pur. Parklji will play against higher ranked Triglav (#5) in Kranj in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Branik will play at home against Celje and hopes to get back on the winning track.
