Thirteenth ranked Baunach (8-11) crushed at home 16th ranked Dragons Rhoendorf (2-17) by 43 points 108-65, which is the biggest margin this round on Saturday night. The game without a history. Baunach led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Dragons Rhoendorf's 40. They outrebounded Dragons Rhoendorf 41-26 including a 41-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Baunach looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a quality performance of center Leon Kratzer (208-97) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!), 16 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 16-of-20 shooting from the field). Johannes Thiemann (203-94) helped adding 22 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Baunach players scored in double figures. At the losing side American point guard Sterling Carter (183-90, college: Purdue) responded with 21 points and the other American import power forward Justin Smith (201-87, college: Hawaii-Hilo) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Baunach moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Hanau. Dragons Rhoendorf lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. Baunach will face ETB Wohnbau (#13) in Essen in the next round. Dragons Rhoendorf will play at home against the league's second-placed SC Rasta Vechta having rather not much hope for a victory.
