Regular Season Round 23: Lietuvos rytas - Vytautas 93-84

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Vilnius. Second ranked Lietuvos rytas faced 3rd placed Vytautas. Host Lietuvos rytas (18-3) defeated guests from Prienai (10-11) 93-84. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 9 points. Lietuvos rytas looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was international swingman Gediminas Orelikas (199-90) who scored 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international center Antanas Kavaliauskas (208-84, college: Texas A&M, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Lietuvos rytas' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Vilmantas Dilys (207-87) produced 21 points and 5 assists and guard Vytautas Sulskis (200-88, college: Youngstown St., agency: Octagon Europe) added 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Four Lietuvos rytas and five Vytautas players scored in double figures. Lietuvos rytas maintains second place with 18-3 record having just one point less than leader Zalgiris. Vytautas at the other side dropped to the fourth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Neptunas. Lietuvos rytas are looking forward to face P.Zvaigzdes (#9) in Pasvalys in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Vytautas will play on the road against Siauliai (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
