No shocking result in a game when third ranked Speyer / Schifferstadt (11-4) edged on the road 10th ranked ASC Theresianum Mainz (4-11) 66-63 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 16 points after first quarter, but they rallied back winning two of next three quarters and won the game by 3 points. It was a great evening for American guard Jennifer Mocanu (172-90) who led her team to a victory scoring 24 points. Forward Martina Kraus (186-90) helped adding 8 points and 11 rebounds. Speyer / Schifferstadt's coach Harald Roth allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American guard Bria Richardson (173, college: Pepperdine) with 19 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized Bulgarian guard Gergana Georgieva (181-87) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. The victory was the third consecutive win for Speyer / Schifferstadt. They maintain third place in South with 11-4 record having four points less than leader Bad Aibling. ASC Theresianum Mainz lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 11 games lost. Speyer / Schifferstadt will face Karlsruhe PS (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. ASC Theresianum Mainz will play against Weiterstadt and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
