Regular Season Round 14: VolinBasket - Mykolaiv 78-80

Eighth-ranked VolinBasket (2-16) made lots of trouble for sixth ranked Mykolaiv (8-11) in Lutsk on Sunday. The visitors from Mykolaiv managed to secure only two-point victory 80-78. However their fans expected easier game. VolinBasket was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 27-24 charge of Mykolaiv, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was Illya Zhukovskiy (198-93) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Oleksandr Shostuha (193-84) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds. Four Mykolaiv players scored in double figures. Guard Nikola Polyulyak (192-90) produced 28 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Edward Fedchuk (182-91) added 20 points and 8 assists respectively for the hosts. Mykolaiv maintains sixth position with 8-11 record. VolinBasket lost eighth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the eighth place with 16 games lost. Mykolaiv are looking forward to face higher ranked Cherkasy (#4) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. VolinBasket will play against the league's leader Khimik (#1) in Yuzhny and is hoping to prove to their fans that they can break losing series.
