Regular Season Round 24: Nevezis - Zalgiris 54-98

LKL top team - Zalgiris (20-2) had no problems winning another game on Monday. This time they crushed ninth ranked Nevezis (7-15) in Kedainiai 98-54. The game without a history. Zalgiris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Nevezis' 28 and made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Nevezis 32-15 including a 25-12 advantage in defensive rebounds. Zalgiris looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The winners were led by Australian power forward Brock Motum (208-90, college: Washington St.) who scored that evening 24 points and international Martynas Pocius (196-86, college: Duke) supported him with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Zalgiris players scored in double figures. Coach Sarunas Jasikevicius's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 11 points and 4 assists by American forward Taylor King (203-88, college: Concordia Irvine, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Nevezis. Center Mindaugas Kupsas (217-91, agency: Octagon Europe) added 14 points. Defending champion maintains first position with 20-2 record. Loser Nevezis keeps the ninth place with 15 games lost. Zalgiris will meet at home Neptunas (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Nevezis will play against Siauliai (#5) and hope to secure a win.
