There was a surprise result in Ankara where thirteenth ranked Mamak DSI (7-11) defeated higher ranked Sakarya BSB (12-6) 84-79 on Friday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Mamak DSI made 26-of-33 free shots (78.8 percent) during the game. Sakarya BSB was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was guard Pertev Onguner (196-91) who scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. American power forward Brandon Peterson (204-90, college: Arkansas St.) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American Sean Evans (203-88, college: St.John's) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds and FYR Macedonian-American point guard Darius Washington (188-85, college: Memphis) added 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Mamak DSI moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Sakarya BSB keeps the fifth position with six games lost. Mamak DSI will face higher ranked Balikesir (#6) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sakarya BSB will play against the league's second-placed Gediz where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
