Regular Season Round 18: Gediz - Gelisim 94-71

Very predictable result when second ranked Gediz (14-4) outscored at home 7th ranked Gelisim (9-9) 94-71 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Gediz. Gelisim was better in second period 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Gediz especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 61.1 percentage. The best player for the winners was Bosnian-Slovenian center Hasan Rizvic (212-84) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). American point guard Demontez Stitt (187-89, college: Clemson, agency: HMS) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Four Gediz players scored in double figures. Gediz's coach Dogan Deniz felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Marvin Jefferson (206-86, college: Idaho) who recorded 22 points and 8 rebounds and the former international Reha Oz (200-78) added 18 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Gediz have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 14-4 record having four points less than leader Tofas, which they share with Acibadem. Loser Gelisim keeps the seventh place with nine games lost. Gediz will face Sakarya BSB (#5) in Sakaraya in the next round. Gelisim will play at home against Akhisar Bld and hope to win that game.
