Regular Season Round 15: Khimik - VolinBasket 84-68

SL Favorit Sport top team - Khimik (18-2) had no problems winning another game. This time they beat eighth ranked VolinBasket (3-17) in Yuzhny 84-68. The game was mostly controlled by Khimik. VolinBasket was better in third quarter 22-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Khimik dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to VolinBasket's 16. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. The best player for the winners was Viacheslav Petrov (203-94) who scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. American power forward Matthew Shaw (203-88, college: UNLV) chipped in 17 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Four Khimik players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Edward Fedchuk (182-91) who recorded 15 points and 7 assists and guard Nikola Polyulyak (192-90) added 8 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion maintains first place with 18-2 record. Newly promoted VolinBasket keeps the eighth position with 17 games lost. Khimik's next round opponent will be Mykolaiv (#6) in Mykolaiv which should be theoretically an easy game. VolinBasket will play on the road against Infiz Basket in Kyiv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
