Second Stage Round 5: ONMU-Vimar - SDYUSHOR-5 73-68

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated SDYUSHOR-5 (1-1) in Odessa on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by leader ONMU-Vimar (1-0) 73-68. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of SDYUSHOR-5. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-15. But SDYUSHOR-5 won second period 16-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. ONMU-Vimar looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Lithuanian forward Julia Gladchenko (184-77) orchestrated the victory by scoring 21 points and 8 rebounds. Valeriya Tymoschina contributed with 14 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) for the winners. ONMU-Vimar's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Pasiko Hvichiani (-0) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 7 rebounds and 12 assists and Anastasiya Dubova (-99) added 20 points in the effort for SDYUSHOR-5. Four SDYUSHOR-5 players scored in double figures. ONMU-Vimar left bottom position moving up to third place. Newly promoted SDYUSHOR-5 dropped to the fourth position with one game lost. ONMU-Vimar are looking forward to face Politekhnika (#7) in Lviv in the next round. SDYUSHOR-5 will have a break next round.
