The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Suduva-Mantinga (24-5) in Sakiai on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by second ranked Vytis (23-7) 86-78. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Suduva-Mantinga. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The hosts trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 86-78. It was a good game for guard Ignas Vaitkus (183-98) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Ernestas Serkevicius (187-95) contributed with 21 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forward Marius Valukonis (198-88) replied with 21 points and 8 rebounds and the former international Aurimas Kieza (202-82, college: Hofstra) added 15 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Suduva-Mantinga. Four Suduva-Mantinga players scored in double figures. Vytis have an impressive 13-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 23-7 record behind leader Suduva-Mantinga. Suduva-Mantinga at the other side still keeps top place with five games lost. Vytis will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Suduva-Mantinga will play on the road against Palanga and is hoping to win this game.
