Regular Season Round 25: Zalgiris - Neptunas 89-57

Rather expected game in Kaunas where 3rd placed Neptunas (11-12) was crushed by first ranked Zalgiris (21-2) 89-57 on Sunday. The game without a history. Zalgiris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Neptunas' 18. International guard Edgaras Ulanovas (197-92) stepped up and scored 17 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and the former international Paulius Jankunas (205-84) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds. Four Zalgiris players scored in double figures. At the losing side American Daniel Ewing (191-83, college: Duke) responded with 11 points and 6 assists and Arnas Butkevicius (197-92) scored 10 points and 7 rebounds. Neptunas' coach Dainius Adomaitis gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Zalgiris have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 21-2 record. Loser Neptunas dropped to the fourth position with 12 games lost. Zalgiris will face Siauliai (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Neptunas will play against Nevezis in Kedainiai and hope to win that game.
