Regular Season Round 17: Elchingen - Speyer 104-56

Date: January 31, 2016
Very expected game when 12th ranked Speyer (4-13) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked Elchingen (9-8) 104-56 on Sunday. Elchingen dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Speyer's 30. Elchingen forced 27 Speyer turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Forward Brian Butler (194-91, agency: Mansfield and Associates) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and American point guard Lorne Jackson (188-90, college: Pepperdine) chipped in 26 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Four Elchingen players scored in double figures. American center Khobi Williamson (201-92, college: Hampden-Sydney) responded with 16 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and the other American import guard DJ Woodmore (190-92, college: Va.Wesleyan) scored 9 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Newly promoted Elchingen maintains fifth place in South with 9-8 record, which they share with Leipzig. Loser Speyer keeps the twelfth position with 13 games lost. Elchingen will face Saarlouis (#11) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Speyer will play against Fraport Skyliners II and hope to win that game.
