There was a small surprise in Kedainiai where ninth ranked Nevezis (8-15) defeated 7th ranked Siauliai (10-12) 82-78 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-78. Nevezis made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Point guard Darius Gvezdauskas (191-88) stepped up and scored 23 points for the winners and Ukrainian forward Oleksandr Kolchenko (194-88) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side Egyptian forward Assem Marei (206-92, college: Minn.St.-Mankato) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and American power forward Dave Dudzinski (206-92, college: Holy Cross, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Nevezis moved-up to eighth place. Loser Siauliai keeps the seventh position with 12 games lost. Nevezis will face higher ranked Neptunas (#4) in Klaipeda in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
