The game in Istanbul was also quite interesting. Fifth ranked Mersin (12-5) played at the court of 6th ranked Istanbul Uni (9-8). Mersin managed to secure a 6-point victory 82-76 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Istanbul Uni. They outrebounded Istanbul Uni 38-27 including 29 on the defensive glass. Mersin looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. American center Aneika Henry (193-86, college: Florida) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and her fellow American import Angel McCoughtry (187-86, college: Louisville) chipped in 27 points and 6 rebounds. American point guard Tan White (170-82, college: Mississippi St., agency: Josep and Nicolas) responded with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists and Bosnian-Serbian guard Sasa Cado (178-89) scored 22 points. Mersin moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Abdullah Gul. Loser Istanbul Uni keeps the sixth position with eight games lost. Mersin will meet Botas (#8) in the next round. Istanbul Uni will play against Yakin Dogu in Lefkosa and hope to secure a win.
