Second Stage Round 5: HAI - Politekhnika 110-48

National League top team - HAI (2-0) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed seventh ranked Politekhnika (0-2) in Kharkov 110-48. The game without a history. HAI led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Politekhnika to just 6 points in second quarter. HAI dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to Politekhnika's 24. HAI forced 29 Politekhnika turnovers and outrebounded them 45-34 including 19 on the offensive glass. Center Viktoria Lozgachova (181-85) nailed 21 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and Valeriya Proskurina (174-98) accounted for 17 points and 6 steals. Five HAI players scored in double figures. HAI's coach felt very confident using entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Power forward Viktoriya Babych (183-99) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Valentina Smyetrova (166-96) added 10 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Politekhnika in the defeat. Newly promoted HAI maintains first place with 2-0 record. Politekhnika at the other side still closes the standings with two games lost. They share the position with Poltavshina. HAI will meet at home Poltavshina (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Politekhnika will play against SDYUSHOR-4 in Mykolaiv and hopes to get finally their first victory.
