There was an upset when higher ranked Istanbul Uni (9-9) lost to eleventh ranked Yakin Dogu (6-12) in Lefkosa 62-74 on Saturday. Yakin Dogu dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Istanbul Uni's 40. It was a good game for American center Kelsey Bone (193-91, college: Texas A&M) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds. Belarusian center Yelena Leuchanka (196-83, college: W.Virginia) contributed with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Bosnian-Serbian guard Sasa Cado (178-89) replied with 17 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Tan White (170-82, college: Mississippi St., agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 13 points and 4 assists in the effort for Istanbul Uni. Newly promoted Yakin Dogu maintains eleventh position with 6-12 record. Loser Istanbul Uni keeps the sixth place with nine games lost. Yakin Dogu will face Adana ASKI (#12) in Mersin in the next round.
